About General Galactic

General Galactic designs, builds, and flies advanced spacecraft that redefine what’s possible beyond Earth. Led by former SpaceX, Varda, Impulse, and Relativity engineers, our vision is to dominate cislunar space and build the railway to Mars – expanding access to high-energy orbits and enabling the next generation of missions along the way. Based in Los Angeles, California, we’re leveraging our paradigm-shifting water-based technology to reshape the space domain for good.

Job Description

As an IT and Information Security Manager, you will own and scale General Galactic’s IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and compliance programs. You will be both the architect and hands-on operator of secure, reliable systems that support our engineers and rapid company growth. As we grow, there will be opportunities to expand your role with the company.

This role combines day-to-day IT leadership with ownership of our information security and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) posture, including the requirements of a US aerospace and defense company.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Build, administer, and scale company IT infrastructure, networking, endpoints, identity and access management, cloud services, and collaboration tools.
  • Drive compliance readiness and ongoing execution for CMMC / NIST SP 800-171, ITAR / EAR, CUI, Classified information, and applicable government and customer security requirements.
  • Lead the development of security policies, risk assessments, incident response procedures, and employee security training.
  • Own daily IT operations, user support, device provisioning, onboarding and offboarding, vendor management, and troubleshooting.
  • Design and implement practical cybersecurity controls, including endpoint protection, MFA, access policies, backup and recovery, logging, and vulnerability management.
  • Coordinate security assessments, evidence collection, audits, corrective actions, and documentation, including system security plans and plans of action where applicable.
  • Partner with engineering and leadership to secure sensitive technical data and enable fast, compliant operations without unnecessary bureaucracy.

Requirements

Successful applicants should have most of the following:

  • BS in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years of experience in IT systems administration, infrastructure, cybersecurity, or information security, including meaningful end-to-end ownership
  • Experience with CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, ITAR / EAR, CUI, Classified information, or security and compliance requirements in aerospace, defense, or government contracting
  • Experience administering business networks, endpoints, identity systems, SaaS applications, and cloud environments in a growing organization
  • Working knowledge of security fundamentals, risk management, incident response, and practical security controls
  • Experience in a fast-paced startup environment or similar, with high agency, strong ownership, and willingness to work hands-on across disciplines
