About General Galactic
General Galactic designs, builds, and flies advanced spacecraft that redefine what’s possible beyond Earth. Led by former SpaceX, Varda, Impulse, and Relativity engineers, our vision is to dominate cislunar space and build the railway to Mars – expanding access to high-energy orbits and enabling the next generation of missions along the way. Based in Los Angeles, California, we’re leveraging our paradigm-shifting water-based technology to reshape the space domain for good.
Job Description
As a Mission Manager, you will own the external requirements and execution pathways that get General Galactic missions and customer contracts from development to flight. You will lead launch and regulatory coordination while driving technical reporting, customer communications, and milestone delivery across our government-funded programs. As we grow, there will be opportunities to expand your role with the company.
This is a hands-on, cross-functional role at the intersection of engineering, mission integration, regulatory affairs, and technical program execution. You will turn complex technical work into clear plans, compliant submissions, compelling presentations, and completed contractual deliverables. You will be critical to making General Galactic’s paradigm-changing missions a reality.
Responsibilities may include:
- Work closely with the founders, business team, and engineering team to successfully execute customer contracts and company missions.
- Own milestone execution for NASA, AFRL, DoD, and other government-funded awards, translating statements of work and contract requirements into actionable plans, deadlines, acceptance criteria, presentations, and deliverables.
- Own mission regulatory and compliance activities, including items like orbital debris assessment reports (ODARs), applicable FAA and licensing-related approvals, and coordination of supporting technical analyses and submissions.
- Serve as a key interface with launch providers, integrators, and range authorities.
- Prepare and submit high-quality technical reports, milestone packages, review materials, and customer correspondence; coordinate technical contributions from engineering and ensure contractual consistency.
- Support mission announcements, public-facing materials, and media/communications efforts in coordination with leadership, ensuring technical accuracy and appropriate disclosure.
Requirements
Successful applicants should have most of the following:
- Engineering degree or background – BS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in technical program management, spacecraft missions, launch integration, or mission assurance
- Familiarity with spacecraft regulatory and launch processes, including ODARs, launch-provider interfaces, payload safety, range requirements, or FAA-related coordination
- Exceptional technical writing, PowerPoint/presentation development, and verbal communication skills; ability to produce polished deliverables from complex engineering inputs
- Strong technical fluency across spacecraft systems, mission design, integration and test, or launch operations, with an ability to collaborate effectively with engineers
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment or similar, with high agency, strong ownership, and attention to detail
Your salary and incentives will be determined individually on the basis of the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Benefits include medical/vision/dental/PTO/401k/stock options, and more!
